The year is 2023, and Seedhe Maut has just announced the Lunch Break mixtape, the one release that will finally give the duo their long-awaited break into the world of mainstream music. With tracks like Luka Chippi, Khatta Flow, and Asal G (along with many more) blowing up, the success that followed for them was unprecedented.
However, what’s even more bizarre is the fact that the whole mixtape at the time was just a prelude to Seedhe Maut’s next album, Kavi Kehna Chahte Hai, a project that never saw the light of day, thanks to a beef the duo found themselves in the following year.
SOS Versus Seedhe Maut: A DHH Beef With An Album Casualty

Come over to July 2024, and by this point, Lunch Break is officially the biggest hit Seedhe Maut has had, and their tour by the same name was going well. But at the same time, Encore ABJ and Calm (the two members of the group), found themselves going against SOS, or Straight Outta Srinagar, another artist duo SM used to work with under Azaadi Records, their former label.
There were a lot of severe allegations thrown around, too many to fit into this one article, and maybe, perhaps, so I will dive into them in a future piece. But a turning point for the whole beef was the release of KAVI KEHNA CHAHTE HAI, not the album, but a SOS diss track against Seedhe Maut.
It’s simple, SOS, by making this move, had simply taken over Seedhe Maut’s future album name, an impactful move as if the album had come out, any search on a streaming platform would have led to a diss track against the very artists showing up against them. This track also marked the end of the beef, as SM simply refused to reply any further, bringing the whole ordeal to a close.
Seedhe Maut’s Recovery: And The Erasure Of Kavi Kehna Chahte Hai From History

Many people at the time of the diss track’s release called it a play taken straight out of KR$NA’s playbook, recalling how during the rapper’s infamous beef with Emiway Bantai, he released a track called Machayenge 4, disrupting a song series his opponent at the time was pursuing. Emiway did go ahead and release a track by the same name 4 days later, but searching it on YouTube still shows up KR$NA’s track on top.
Kavi Kehna Chahte Hai is now a project that remains less talked about. There is a chance that Seedhe Maut might have talked about it during one of their many Instagram Live sessions, but I doubt it. It would make sense to scrap a project for two key reasons.
First being how Lunch Break, a mixtape that was supposed to be just a prequel, blew up way more than anyone expected, and all for good reasons. It had great tracks and collaborations that everybody loved, including Badshah, Faris Shafi, KR$NA, and more. The second reason is that SOS simply took the keyword away from them.
The irony of this whole situation is that the beef started between the two rap duos after SOS claimed that the SM stole their album concept. With the Srinagar-based duo pulling off the same stunt, I guess, the score is equal now? Let me know what you think in the comments below
