Nanchaku, a track that was released back in 2021, took the world of DHH by storm, and that was because of good measures. The collaboration between Delhi’s iconic hip-hop duo Seedhe Maut with MC Stan from Pune resulted in a timeless classic that helped put all the artists involved out there on the map.

Imagine this: it’s July 2021, and out of nowhere, a track that combines Seedeh Maut’s best work of imagery yet, along with MC Stan’s Pune slang, drops, and it hits, it hits hard. The track is none other than Nanchaku, a part of Seedhe Maut’s न mixtape, and one that set them on the path of becoming mainstream.

Seedhe Maut Nanchaku Lyrics and Breakdown

Verse 1: Encore Abj

Khokle khoke
Pe kho ke mukhaute
Muu khole
Muh chodi pe kodde
Fir godde pe godde
Phir dabake jotte pe jotte
Yaha Launde re masti me phook
Jai-veeru jode jo likhe vo sholey
Lagadete lode
Jo jyada mu khole
Yaha chante ni tole bas tole hai tole
To le karle agni mehsoos

Right off the bat, in his typical fashion, Encore ABJ (Seedhe Maut) decides to drop one of the most interpolated bars fast, which was as good as they come. The artist talks about stripping off masks for revealing one’s true self, as signified in lines such as “Pe kho ke mukhaute, Muu khole, Muh chodi pe kodde“. The artist also drops a shoutout to the iconic Sholey movie, referring to the legendary partnership of Jai-Veeru, and how it’s similar to his and Calm’s friendship.

To aa mere paas aa
Giraja in saanso ke juue ka pasa
Begum tu meri mai hu tera pasha
Vo rakhti hai sheh se mehfooz

These lines are pretty straightforward. Encore ABJ pulls in a few bars that claim he plays with lives as if they were a game of dice. Furthermore, he also calls for a queen, who will keep the king and his throne secure.

Kario na koi harkat
Launde yaha jaate hai marr katt
Katal hai sar pe 67
Lala kya jeena hai darkar?
Aage ka sochke aaj me marr kar
Auro se jalke yaaro me sadkar
Aage ni badhte karke bad bad

The artist resorts to giving a life lesson in these lines, first delivering a warning shot that he is not someone to be messed with, and further explaining that there is nothing to be afraid of when it comes to life. It’s better to live in the present than ruin it thinking about the future.

Khelna chahti vo saath me ghar ghar
Vo bole vo padhe ni pyar
Tu bada gawar tu
Ho dono hi anpadh
Mai thama hasi
Fir uga dala scene jaha pehele zameen thi banjar

These are the most iconic lines from Encore ABJ’s verse, and perhaps, the ones that most people remember. The “bill nikli hajj par” line is interestingly a throwback to a popular Hindi phrase that dictates that karma is real, and people will get what they deserve for their past actions, even if they show they have improved over time.

The further lines are just flex bars, with the artist claiming to be someone in power and to be someone who understands love better than his opponents. He also funnily includes a wordplay on the “Ghar” word, which sticks out from the rest of the bar fest for its humour.

Verse 2: Calm

Paiso se pehle izzat bohot kamaayi thi
Ye kismat nahi likhaayi thi
Yaha Bhare dono kutta harr beat pe maar peet
Aur baju apni beat pe ni dhundta type beat
Ye bethe the jab ghar pe yaha deals uthayi thi
Ye Karo koshish meri toot ti jhai ni
Ye pc ke peeche se dete gaali par aage se mile
Mujhe to fati me bole chootte hi bhai ji

Calm’s (Seedhe Maut) verse in Nanchaku is often referred to as one of his best works yet, and that is deservingly so. He starts off by claiming how he earned respect way before he started earning wealth, and his destiny was not pre-written; in fact, he wrote it himself with his pen. He also flexes how he excels in both production and writing when it comes to making music.

The latter part of his bar fest includes him calling out all the keyboard warriors who like to deliver hate while sitting behind a screen, and how Seedhe Maut remains unaffected by all of them.

Seekho papa se tameez
Na jaaye koi toe by toe
Mera flow kare taekwondo
Saala hume Jiss venue ne feka bahar
Kara 1 saal baad wahi sold out show
Gaand faad di
Buzzer kara beat maara gaand faad 3 “Kobe”
Nishaana jaise curry bada tapmaan sheesh
Ye 16 padhe bhari tu karna chahta
Baraabri to bar maar tees

Calm in this verse states that there is no one who is on equal footing with him, as made clear by the “toe-by-toe” bar. This was followed by an iconic flow and a throwback to the time of how he delivered a sold-out show at the exact venue the duo might have been thrown out of a year prior.

This particular verse also includes a few basketball references, including the buzzer-beater 3 pointers that the legendary NBA player Kobe often delivered, followed by a shoutout to “curry“, referring to Steph Curry, one of the best shooters in Basketball, known for his accuracy.

Ni to lawde bol pencil
“Uhh pencil”

Calm delivers a few more flex bars here, stating how he stands as someone who can’t be cancelled, staying unaffected by the ongoing trends on the internet that often drag down anyone with fame. The verse shows the artist’s confidence in his work and his hard work, which has finally resulted in his success after years of grinding, which will stay as a stone-hard proof that he is now unmovable.

Usne Haath jodd liye
Freedom of speech ki bhi maa chod di hai
Likhne se pehle hi haath modd diye
Inke upar se taapu me Bina parkour kiye poora
Villa lu baju me jaise kaam aur ni hai
Saale jale to gharo me mere ghaas aur bhi hai inhe laga tha thamenge tabhi kaand aur kiye
Lawde bole repetitive mere flow ko jo
Ghoose padhenge do so
Beta Gaand todd di hai
Seedhe maut

Towards the end of his verse, Calm straight up calls out the sensitive topic of Freedom of Speech in India. However, he says that he jumps over these hurdles effortlessly, and whoever thought he was about to stop was wrong, as Calm will just get more nefarious and continue to do what he does best, Kaand.

Verse 3: MC Stan

Thanda le calm, fir kya bolta maam
Muh pe inke thooku kya, khaya mene pan
Pasand hai aaj bhi woh, lekin woh rand
Naad ko mat lag mere, baat meri maan
Nanchaku ghumata, banda mei khudaka
Har ek jagah ka, Mandal mei pakata
Wait karra, subah ka
Tere liye, rukhata
Kabhi nahi, jhukata
Kya bolta Maam!
Sapna tha, subah ka
Tooka mei, fukhata
Road pe, joint jalata
Call meko, lagata
Underground artist ko kaiku tu dabata
Button nai chabata
Sun meri jaan!
Kapde wo sukhati, mei uska sukhata
Maa ki chut duniya ki, duniya se chupata
Bazaar mei, dikhata
Galti se, seekha tha
Galti to hoyegi bro, mein bhi insaan

MC Stan’s verse in Seedhe Maut’s Nanchaku is possibly one of his best works ever, and it starts right off with the one line every DHH fan is familiar with, i.e., “Thanda le Calm“. He goes on to dismiss his critics, symbolizing resilience and unbothered composure,

He also directly refers to Nanchaku, the martial arts weapon, the name of the track is based on, as a metaphor for his sharp and deadly delivery. MC Stan also picks up on the theme of the oppression of artists from Calm’s verse, while at the same time admitting he is going to make some mistakes in life as well, given that he is a human, like the rest of us, and that he looks forward to learn from it.

Kya bolta pasha, bhot hogayeli nasha
Meko dekh ke tum log ko, aisa kyu laga
Dressing full kattar thi, zhag mag zhaga
Opps la mi zhavnar, sanglyan ni bhaga
Item ko puch Teri, Kal kon laga
Mei chodra tha usku, tu beech me se jaga
Dekha meko asli mei, chaddi mei haga
Pair jara, phaka
Shot mera, pacha
Mere haato se, bacha
Sirf bachkan, ko thasa
Mein kaato pe, chala
Deta teku sala, sala
Tu mujhe se kyu, jala
Heyyyy, avdat nai mala
Bole mene subscribe, kara
Bole meko subscribe, bada
Puch mat kitna, tu pada
Mei sunnra tha, gunna
Chod dal ye bachkan pana
Mere baaju wali, sana
Mera unreleased, gaana!

Over the delivery of his verse in Seedhe Maut’s track, MC Stan manages to paint a beautiful portrait of how he perceives himself and the world around him. While how he delivers his line might seem funky at first, it goes way deeper than one can imagine, especially after how he uses imagery to call out industry treatment of underground artists, to flashing awareness of social media pressures.

The artist also drops a reference to Gunna, an American Rapper and Singer, revealing that MC Stan is a fan of the foreign artist and often listens to him. Nanchaku is the kind of track that doesn’t just showcase bars, it showcases chemistry. Seedhe Maut’s razor-sharp lyricism blends seamlessly with MC Stan’s unpredictable delivery, making it one of the best tracks to be included in both artists’ discography, also making it the reason why the both of them needs to get together and make another track soon.
